WINDOW TREATMENTS

Window treatments on a boat can be subtle or bold. It all depends on what you are trying to feature. Since the windows on a boat are generally smaller in scale then in a house, people tend to choose a window treatment that blends with the walls rather than competes with them. Neutral solid colors rather than bold prints tend to be standard fare in a boat’s interior.

When designing window treatments it is important to consider the hardware used. In a salt water environment certain metals will rust in short order. You will often see plastic tracking systems in boats. Most tracking systems are extruded aluminum. A number of companies design window treatments specifically for boats.

Despite the challenging size and shape of most yacht windows, many manufacturers have standard products such as mini-blinds that fit in odd shapes and sizes. Most fabric type window treatments can be custom made to fit almost any window.
